Governor Inslee, First Lady Trudi and their grandson Brody visited The Whale Trail yesterday! They stopped by to see our new sign at West Beach in Deception Pass State Park. We talked about the benefits of land-based whale-watching, and found some seals to watch too!
Read all about it on the Governor’s blog here.
Thanks to the Governor, his family and staff, and the partners who made this such a great day: Lynne Barre (NOAA Fisheries), Carol Bernthal (Olympic Park National Marine Sanctuary), Sgt. Russ Mullins (WDFW Enforcement), Jason Armstrong (Deception Pass State Park), Matt and everyone from the Deception Pass State Park Foundation.
Super special thanks to Cindy Elliser, Pacific Marine Mammal Institute, who nominated West Beach as a Whale Trail location, to WDFW Enforcement for funding the sign, and to Jason for getting the sign installed in time for this visit! And to Sheila Van Groningen for all the support.
A great day on The Whale Trail! Here’s to many more.
