The Ventura Pier was opened in 1872 and juts into the Pacific Ocean from the city of Ventura and the Ventura Beach. It’s open year-round, weather permitting and free for all.

WHERE THE WHALES ARE

Whales and other marine mammals are best viewed from the end of the pier. Migrating gray whales, humpback whales, and orca whales are spotted between January – March and September and June – September. The whales pass between the mainland and Channel Islands.

WHEN TO SEE WHALES

Dolphins, sea otters and seals can be seen year-round. Whale seasons are from January – March and June – September.
