AMENITIES

Picnic Facilities, Wheelchair Accessible

Emma Schmitz donated this shoreline overlook to the City of Seattle in 1945. Me-Kwa-Mooks Park, behind the viewpoint, is located on land that was once the Schmitz homestead.

The beach below is a marine preserve. It is noted for its extensive seaweed and eelgrass beds, and large sand dollar tide pools just north of the park boundary.

WHERE THE WHALES ARE

Resident orcas are most likely to be seen here during fall and winter, following salmon runs into the Sound. Look across the Sound and watch for blows, or spouts.

Closer to shore, seals, sea lions and river otters frequent the waters here throughout the year.
