Sentinels of Silence - Friday Harbor Film Festival @ Virtual Event

 Sentinels of Silence is a short documentary that explores issues of noise, commercial whale-watching and the southern residents. It features interviews with Jeff Friedman (PWWA), Tim Ragen (Former Executive Director, U.S. Marine Mammal Commision), Sorrel North (Southern Resident Orca Protection), and Donna Sandstrom (The Whale Trail).

The film makes its northwest premiere at the Friday Harbor Film festival starting October 15th. The Friday Harbor Film Festival will also feature a panel discussion on October 18 at 4 PM. The film will be widely released to the public in November.

Note: This is a virtual film festival. All events can be viewed online.

Does whale watching protect or harm whales?
The short eco-documentary by Director Mark Pedelty explores recent controversies over whale watching, boat noise, and orca conservation in Washington State and British Columbia.
Director is available for interviews.
