Threats to Orcas

The southern resident orcas were listed as endangered by NOAA Fisheries in 2005. If current population trends worsen or continue, they could go extinct in as few as 100 years.

Factors contributing to their decline are prey abundance (lack of salmon); toxin accumulations; and vessel impacts.

These are all human-caused problems with human-based solution. Learn more about what we each can do to help the orcas!
