Hi Alexandra - wow, everyone at Anthony's must have been thrilled! The whales apparently traveled in different directions after reaching Tacoma. From the size of it, it sounds like the group you saw is the same group that was seen on the west side of Bainbridge on Saturday, and near the Mukilteo ferry about an hour ago (per Orca Network's Facebook page.) The larger group continued south and was in Case Inlet over the weekend.
Thank for sharing the story, keep watching!

On Friday at my work (Anthony's at Pt. Defiance), we saw a small pod, we saw 7 at the most at once, crossing infront of the Tacoma Yacht Club and cross right infront of our deck.. The pod was moving quickly towards the east side of the Point, when someone in a speedboat came up behind them, spooked them, and they dove. We continued watching for about 15 minutes, but they didn't surface. We figured they either went to the West of Vashon, or South towards GH, Fox, and Anderson Island.

Hi Rachel - lucky you! It sounds like you have a wonderful view. Last we heard, the whales were near the Tacoma Narrows. There are actually 20 - 30 orcas, in two groups. Keep watching, let us know if you see them again!

We saw a pod of orcas swim by our house today at about 2:00pm I believe it was. We live in Gig Harbor in a high bank home on the Colvos Passage. We could only see them for about 30 seconds until they went out of sight. I counted six whales. They were headed south. Absolutely beautiful.....I think I screamed when I saw them!!! Hope to see more.
